Good Grief: A Community Gathering where we talk all things GRIEF

  • Emanu-El Downtown 15 West 16th Street New York, NY, 10011 United States (map)

Led by Grief Educator & Social Worker, Chloe Nassau

When Chloe was 13 weeks pregnant with her second child, her mother died after a 4 year cancer battle. Chloe searched for a space where she could process her immense grief and came up short. As a result, she created a monthly book club for moms grieving the loss of a parent, while simultaneously raising tiny humans. This passion for connecting through grief sparked something in her, and she became certified as a grief educator, dedicated to normalizing conversations about grief.

Join us for a unique offering, part book club, part social circle, part nosh, a chance to connect with others navigating the deep, complicated terrain of grief. Together, we’ll read and discuss Sharon Brous’s national bestseller, The Amen Effect: Ancient Wisdom to Mend Our Broken Hearts and World. In it, Brous asks: “In a time of loneliness and isolation, social rupture and alienation, what will it take to mend our broken hearts and rebuild our society?”

We’ll use her book as a springboard to explore grief in all its forms - personal loss, collective grief from the news cycle, even the ache of a life transition. Whether your loss is fresh or decades old, whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a job, or a dream, your story belongs here.

(please note that this group is not a substitute for therapy.)
